Revolt & Global Spin Awards (GSA) Recap

REVOLT and the Global Spin Awards (GSA) joined forces for the sixth annual awards show honoring the most dynamic and talented DJs from around the world. The Global Spin Awards, which will air Thursday, February 22^nd on REVOLT at 9:00pm ET/6:00pm PT, took place in Los Angeles on February 15^th at the NOVO at LA Live. Entertainment icon Snoop Dogg, also known as DJ Snoopadelic, took the stage as host to present the 2018 Global Spin Award recipients DJ Khaled, DJ Camilo, DJ Carisma, Diplo and more, who took home top honors.

In addition to recognizing DJs for their significant role within today's culture of music, the show honored two timeless legacies from the industry: Usherpresented Jermaine Dupri with theBreaking Barriers Award and Pharrell presented Timbaland with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

"I'm truly blessed to be honored with the Breaking Barriers Award," said honoree Jermaine Dupri. "I've worked with so many talented artists and DJs to produce great music over the years. The secret to breaking musical barriers is simple – practice makes perfect. For all the DJs out there that have supported and accepted me, I thank you for playing my records and sharing it with the world.

"I love music. I was a DJ first, and when I didn't like the music out there, I decided to make beats and create music for the fans," said Lifetime Achievement honoree Timbaland. I'd really like to thank all the DJs that have played my records, and continue to play my records every day. It feels a little weird receiving this Lifetime Achievement Award, because I feel like I'm just getting started."

Sean "Diddy" Combs, Jermaine Dupri,Snoop Dogg, and Ludacris took the stage for a legendary performance of Welcome to Atlanta (Coast to Coast Remix). The show also included an epic performance by Fabolous and Jadakiss with additional performances by Nipsey Hussle and A Boogie.

Presenters for the night included GSA founder Shawn Prez, Victor Oladipo, Vashtie, Justin Combs, Quincy, Nichole Sherzinger, King Combs, Young M.A, Angela Simmons, Vanessa Simmons,and more.

King Combs also took the stage during the Global Spin Awards pre-show hosted by REVOLT's Hannah Rad, airing Thursday, February 22^nd at 8:30pm ET. The pre-show will feature celebrity interviews and gives viewers an exclusive sneak peek of the 2018 Global Spin Awards.

October London releases the highly anticipated

Premiering exclusively on Noisey, October London releases the highly anticipated short film, Color Blind: Love, executively produced by Snoop Dogg. The film follows October's journey leaving prison, finding work through his girlfriend, played by the alluring Jasmine Hope Waite, and the pursuit of his passion as a singer. Directed by Dylan Brown, the film enlists The Doggfather, Snoop Dogg, as a slick talking music executive along with comedy legend, Mike Epps, who plays a club owner that hires October as a dishwasher eventually leading to the opportunity of a lifetime. Color Blind: Love exhibits an exceptional acting debut by October London and complements his emotionally invigorating debut EP, Color Blind: Love, available now on all DSPs.

During Oscar weekend, October London performed songs from his Color Blind: Love EP and screened the short film to a full house at the American Black Film Institute's: Oscar Noir Gala. The ABFI gala was hosted by Shaun Robinson and honored Angela Basset, Academy Award for Best Picture Moonlight's director Barry Jenkins, Janelle Monae, Issa Rae and Jessie T. Usher.

Having been compared to Marvin Gaye, Sam Cooke and The DeBarge brothers due to his impactful lyrics and silky tone, October London is a must-see at Austin's SXSW festival this month. He quickly caught the attention of audiences for his debut single, "Black Man in America," for its chilling and important message in today's social construct. Since signing to Jazze Pha and Snoop Dogg's Cadillacc Music and with his work writing and performing the theme song to Martha and Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party, London is just beginning to share his multifaceted talents with the world.
