MAF HOPEFUL FOR PETRAEUS NEW ROLE AS CIA CHIEF
PRO-TROOP GROUP HOPES REORGANIZATION
WILL ADVANCE MILITARY GOALS
Sacramento, Calif. - Move America Forward, the nation’s largest pro-troop grassroots organization, was very encouraged by the recent move to appoint General Petraeus to Director of the CIA. A spokesperson from the organization said “We have been urging President Obama for months to use CIA techniques and assets in order to better protect the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan – hope this move will result in a policy shift toward protecting our troops and doing more to attack the enemy.”
“General Petraeus is a war hero responsible for implementing successful military strategy in both Iraq and Afghanistan, his knowledge of what is needed to better help our troops succeed is unparalleled,” the spokesperson said. She added, “The rules of engagement are far too restrictive and our intelligence resources have been limited. We hope that by appointing General Petraeus to lead the CIA, President Obama has realized the importance of military leadership when it comes to our troops and not allowing them to be manipulated by Washington bureaucrats.”
“Our troops are coming off a difficult month, with high causalities and this summer promises to be wrought with more engagements. 8 more American soldiers died today. Our troops are not receiving the intelligence necessary to anticipate threats. Our covert agents are not allowed to retrieve the information available to them. We need Washington to stop playing politics with our troops. If there is one person that has proven capable of implementing effective strategies, it’s General Petraeus.”
The spokesperson concluded with, “We are very encouraged knowing what General Petraeus brings to the table. We hope that President Obama allows General Petraeus to execute the appropriate measures to ensure safety for our troops and success in our missions abroad.”
