THE HARMONY PROGRAM ANNOUNCES ANNUAL WALTZ GALA
Event to Support Music-Making in Under-Served Communities on May 2, 2011

NEW YORK – April 5, 2011 – The Harmony Program today announced plans for their Second Annual Gala event, to benefit the program’s intensive after-school music instruction in under-served New York City Communities. The event, which will be held at the Pierre Hotel, is an elegant evening of dancing and live music provided by the Park Avenue Chamber Symphony. The event will also feature a waltz demonstration and group lesson, silent auction and a special performance by Harmony Program students alongside members of the New York Philharmonic.

“The Waltz is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our achievements, generate support, and feature the talents of our young musicians,” said Anne Fitzgibbon, Founder and Executive Director of the Harmony Program. “It truly is a night to remember.”

Tickets for the second annual Harmony Program Waltz are on sale now, and can be purchased online at https://co.clickandpledge.com/advanced/default.aspx?wid=32477.

Individual tickets are $375 and VIP tickets are $675.  VIP tables are available for $10,000 and include 10 VIP tickets.  More information on the Harmony Program and the Waltz event can be found at http://harmonyprogram.org.

About the Harmony Program:
Founded in 2004, the Harmony Program provides daily after-school music lessons to children from economically disadvantaged communities.  Harmony’s unique model taps the city’s college and graduate-level music students as teachers, training them to develop the talents of young people who would not ordinarily be exposed to music education.  The Harmony Program provides its teachers with professional development opportunities, first-hand teaching experience, and hourly stipends for their services.  At the same time, Harmony provides participating New York City school children with musical instruments, daily after-school music classes, and cultural events, all free of charge.  More information can be found online at http://harmonyprogram.org.
